The treehouses at Mystrees were created by artist Maurice Barkley who turned treehouse builder at the age of 65. As an artist, his treehouse creations are very colorful and feature easy to build methods that are reminiscent of set design. Each style of building has pros & cons. The pros of Barkley's methods are that they look wonderful and imaginative and are simple to build using readily available methods. The cons are that there are often better ways to construct tree houses that are better for the trees and will support more weight. Barkley's small treehouses are designed for the use of small children and aren't concerned with issues like building codes. Our advice: we're not sure about Build Your Own Treehouse: A Practical Guide from a construction perspective, but you should definitely visit Barkley's Mystrees in Rochester, NY!
