TREEHOUSE DESIGN FAQ

  • Do I have to purchase time to get design questions answered?

Most of the time, we recommend working directly with our designers as they have access to design software that ensures the platform is structural.

If you have a quick question related to design or hardware selection, or if you are unsure how much custom design time to book, you can email us at info@treehousesupplies.com

  • How soon will I get my custom design?

Most designs take 1-2 weeks to complete[ but this can vary depending on the size and complexity of your design.

Our designers will reach out within 48 hours to set up a consultation and can give you a time frame for completion.

  • What information should I give to my designer?

Here are some things our designers would like to know before getting started on your project.

  1. Diameter or Circumferences of all trees involved
  2. Size and shape of the desired treehouse
  3. Species of all trees involved (If known)
  4. The span between trees (If more than two trees, measure the span of each tree to every other tree so we can triangulate the area
  5. Any significant slopes on the property
  6. Any relevant property lines
  7. Any site conditions that you think are relevant

  • How do I accommodate for a lean in a tree?

When you are building in a leaning tree, be sure to consider the following:

  • Make adjustments for asymmetrical loading on tribeam legs
  • Either using staggered TAB sizes/depths for tribeams, or switching to a system with 2 single knee braces.
  • Make sure that the tree doesn’t lean into the top of the beam when installed. In this case, suspended systems can be a better choice.
  • If the tree is leaning in towards a wall, make sure that there will be enough room for the wall & roof overhang and still have space for the tree to sway and get bigger over time. Sometimes, the wall has to start 2-4’ away from the tree
