TREEHOUSE SUPPLIES NETTING FAQ
Barrier Netting:
- Can Single Layer Netting be used as a hammock?
We no longer recommend the single-layer net for use as a hammock. We recommend our Double Stacked or Cargo Loft Nets for hammock use.
- How do I install Single Layer Netting?
To install a single-layer netting, you will want to build a wood frame. Grommet holes are placed 12” apart so you can install screw eyes into your frame spaced 12” apart.
You can then attach the net to the screw eyes using quick links.
- If your net will be installed outdoors, we suggest the stainless-steel option for both screw eye and quick links.
- If your net is indoors, we feel using quick zinc links will be sufficient.
- How do I trim the barrier netting?
You can trim barrier netting using a heat knife or rope cutter.
If you do not have access to these tools, you can cut the netting to the desired length, then singe the ends with a heat gun or lighter to prevent fraying.
We do not recommend cutting single-layer netting.
Hammock Netting:
- Can Single Layer Netting be used as a hammock?
We no longer recommend the single-layer net for use as a hammock.
We recommend our Double Stacked or Cargo Loft Nets for hammock use.
- How do I install Double Stacked or Cargo Loft netting?
To install hammock netting, you must build a wood frame at least 3” thick.
We recommend installing screw eyes into your frame spaced 12” apart.
You can then attach the net to the screw eyes using quick links.
- If your net will be installed outdoors, we suggest the stainless-steel option for both screw eye and quick links.
- If your net is indoors, we feel using zinc quick links will be sufficient.
- How should I build the frame?
We recommend building a wood frame on all sides of the net that is at least 3” thick to accept our standard hardware.
You will want to accommodate the size of the frame to account for a total of 2 ⅞” of hardware space on each side.
- Can I have one or more sides unsupported?
We do not recommend having one or multiple sides unsupported. This causes too much load on the attachment hardware and can lead to the failure of the net.
- Do I need a frame?
Our netting must be framed out as it requires attachment points at a maximum of 12” apart.
We do not recommend suspending this net between trees without a frame.
